LCD Backlights

Today, most LCD backlights are made by either applying scattering structures to the surface of a waveguide (ink jet or laser) or injection molding a waveguide with micro-optical structures built-in. Injection molding requires very large equipment. Printing on or ablating the surface of a waveguide is a relatively slow serial batch process. Our patent pending process takes advantage of the speed and precision of roll to roll manufacturing to achieve higher quality with more cost effective results.

2D-3D Switchable LCD Backlight

UniPixel can provide a custom, patent pending LCD backlight that can switch between 2D and glasses-free 3D modes under software control. This unique product offers the most efficient method for achieving full resolution, glasses-free 3D.
